Nasa huli ang pagsisisi

They say that before someone learns his lesson, he should make a mistake first. Well, I guess, I believe in that saying because I can prove it!

Beth is my friend. She is a 4th year high school student. She’s two years older than me. One day, she narrated one of her worst experiences. She started her story with a big sigh! She is so disappointed. She had a long quiz in Physics, which is her favorite subject. But then, she got a failing score for that quiz because she had not reviewed anything about the topic and thus, resulting to her failure. She reasoned that she was tired at that time because of the many requirements needed to be done and she didn’t have the time to review her lessons for the next day. The reason behind the requirements was because when the teacher gives the assignments, she just snubbed it and just goes out with her friends and they will just go home when it is already dark. And the assignments continued to pile up. She finished her story with a nice quote, “Nasa huli talaga ang pagsisisi!”

If only she did all of her requirements ahead of time, maybe, the falling grade will not be given to her and there is a possibility that she will get a very high score for that Physics quiz.

Well, there you go, after Beth’s mistake, she did learned her lesson and she promised that she will do her best in making all of her requirements on time so that in the end, great results will come her way.

Sayonara....

Thank you, for the things you’ve done for me, for the helping me out through my struggles and for sharing a part of your life to me.

Sorry for the times that I have done something wrong to you all. I hope you have forgiven me.

And good-bye for now. I will be in a different school and most of you will not see me again.

Charter change as advocated by the present administration continues to play by pushing the people's initiative and the constituent assembly even in the most unconventional way.

The administration is doing its effort to prolong its stay in power. The decision of the House of the Representative to embark on the solidarity journey towards charter change, despite of the dark motives permeates this cha-cha overdrive.

The newspaper ads together with the radio and television keeps on promoting the public trust where the government spends millions of pesos enough to support the victims of typhoon Milenyo and other calamities. However, the people are losing hope for this kind of government.

Do we need to change the form of government now when the next election is only less than a year? This democratic exercise can give us chance to choose the people whom we believe can uplift our standard of living which becomes worse everyday.

Massive killing of activists, students, priests, labor leaders mushroom in our community nowadays. On the other hand, economic problems arise in our society too. The poor gets poorer and the rich gets richer.

These are problems needing urgent solutions that the government should look into as its priority rather than the hot issue on cha-cha.

Water: Gift and Responsibility

Myspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter Graphics

Water is everywhere - streams, rivers, oceans, undergounds as well as in the atmosphere in the form of water vapor. It is a gift form God and very valuable to us. It has many uses and considered the universal solvent. But as time goes by, the supply of water to support the growing population is no longer a sure thing. It's about time for all of us to be aware of the importance of water in our life and make it a habit to save water wisely.

Before man came into existence, water already existed to serve its purpose - to nourish and give life. Just as how important it is for a baby inside his mother's womb to depend on a bag of water for his nourishment and survival until he's brought out to this world.

Water is truly a life-giving gift. It does not only nourish and cleanse our body physically but also spiritually cleanses our soul during baptism.

Water is an essential need to human life and other living creatures as well. And in as much as it is a part of each living thing, it has several uses inside and outside the home.

We drink it, bathe in it, cook with it, wash our hands and clothes with it and many other things. Studies show that on an average, man needs 70 gallons of water per day. Plants and animals do also need water in order to survive.

On the other hand, we know very well that water can be a source of energy used in hydroelectric plants that produce electricity for industries and the communities leading to progress and development.

One thing more is, water can also irrigate farmlands for more crop production. It also provides great opportunities to the fishermen who solely depend on bodies of water for their sustenance.

But, is it only the use of water that matters most importantly? Shall it end there? Sometimes, we simply focus our attention on its uses just for our own satisfaction. Most often, we only realize its importance when we're now experiencing shortage of water.

This is a fact that we should always look into. It should go hand in hand with its importance in our life and our environment because without water we cannot survive.

Gone are the days when we can just cup our hands into the river to quench our thirst without fear that the water is safe for drinking. A secure supply of water is no longer a sure thing nowadays because our water resource is undervalued.

This can be attributed to pollution, the root of the problem caused by the irresponsibility of man. Human beings continue to destroy water resource combined with the abuse of factories and other industries that dump their wastes in various bodies of water. And this result to contamination of water by toxic chemicals that affect the quality of water thereby limiting water supply. In other words, we are pushing the water cycle beyond its natural limits.

Ladies and gentlemen, we use water everyday at home and in so many situations but we take it for granted. Now is the time for us to reassess our attitudes about water. We should take the rigth path; begin to understand our significant role in improving the quality and protecting the quantity of water resource by treating it with care and respect. Use it wisely and bring it back to the same condition in order to sustain life in plants, animals and human beings endlessly.

In doing so, I believe that we are giving hope to the generations of tomorrow to enjoy the infinite flow of clean water for their sustenance and survival.

Let us all unite for this common goal. Let's start saving and using water wisely NOW...not tomorrow nor the next day...before it's too late. Let us join our hands and together we take this responsibility.
